Ross 8 Months

The Little Man is EIGHT months today! And we celebrated in true baby style... playing, eating, {the thing that comes after eating}, and in bed by 7 pm. It seems like this month I have seen the greatest amount of change with little man.
And maybe this is why.... Mommies lock up your daughters... we have a crawler! One day I sat him down and when I came to check on him a few moments later; yep, he was on the other side of the room. So time for baby proofing and putting eveything out of reach. Merritt has taken this the hardest because now he can go get her toys {she's not a fan of the accomplishments that Ross has mastered}.
My boy is no longer a vampire which is nice, the upper middles have broken through and are getting used quite a bit! I am no fortune teller but I can see that in the future this boy is going to eat us out of home! This month we added applesauce, cantaloupe, tahini, cottage cheese, and yogurt to his diet. There is no food he has said 'No thank you' to.
He is most unhappiest when he is on his back, which explains the look above {almost like a turtle that has gotten flipped over on its shell}.
By far the most difficult photo shoot to date... the boy was not interested in posing for his momma. Should have put the monthly sticker on his back!

Ode to Pinterest

Oh how I love thee... Here is a pic of the little people's fun room. I am super excited about how it has turned out so far! We spend the majority of our time in this room, so it was a priority since moving in last October. I found the rug in December at Target and it was the perfect combination of learning and colors. It was really hard for me when deciding on a theme not to go animal print, aqua, and hot pink since we have the little man and I didn't figure he would appreciate it as much as his sister and I would. Our playroom has been inspired by these Pinterest pins:
The chicken wire frames are from lemonademakinmama.com I used frames I found at Goodwill for $4 a piece, took out the pictures and glass and added sheep wire I got from a friend. The sheep wire actually worked out better for our room because the holes are squares that match the rug.
The R E A D letters were from http://3.bp.blogspot.com/
I bought my letters from Hobby Lobby and modge podged scrapbook paper to have them match our room colors.
The shelves from Ikea were ideas from dplusmeblog.com They are the perfect height for Merritt and I put books based on the theme from Mommy School, an upcoming holiday, or what she is working on at school.
And lastly, our magnets now make their home on this oil drip pan and NOT on our refrigerator! Yay! The drip pan was found at Wal-Mart for $10. I wanted to add my cutie to the post so I put her instead of the inspiration photo. You can find the pic on nicandkate09.blogspot.com
Again thank you pinterest! Not sure how I did anything before your existence!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

How LUCKY am I to be these two's mom? Beyond LUCKY! We had a fun green-filled day celebrating St. Patrick's Day.
This week was our Spring Break and made the most of our time off by hanging out with our friends. We had a great time at our friends' Katie & Leah's house for a GREEN playdate. Cupcake and grapes - Yummy!
Today a mischevious leprechaun made a visit to our house and left clues for us to follow. He turned our yogurt green...
Oops! Looks like Leprechaun forgot to flush!
And at the end of the rainbow, our little Leprechaun friend left a pot of 'gold' coin treats!

Oh How Sweet It Is...

Yay! Spring is here! Well not technically but it is Spring Break - can I get a WOO-HOO! We made our annual trip to Sweet Berry Farm for some sweet berries with our sweet friends. Even though they don't get to see each other that often, when they get together they pick up right where they left off. They were so excited to pick strawberries they could barely sit still long enough for the mamarazzi to snap a couple of pics.
My sweet girl doesn't like to eat strawberries {they have seeds} but she loves to pick them for her strawberry-lovin' mom. Everytime she bent down to pick one, "Only the red ones, right mom?"
Helping T find the red ones :)
And what better way to end a hard day of berry picking? Eating a strawberry popsicle! Just don't tell her the strawberries in the popsicle have seeds too!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

We have been celebrating Dr. Seuss for the past couple of weeks. We have been busy reading our favorite books and playing learning games. {And sorry about this pic! it was taken tonight with my phone when I remembered I needed a picture of her}
We made Cat in the Hat hats!
And even one for little brother... although all he really wanted was to chew on his!
We worked on graphing and some fine motor skills with coloring in the boxes.
Merritt loves patterns, I think it is part of her ocd :) I hope her love reading continues throughout her life and if it does get hard, then I want her to remember that there are fun adventures inside each book!
